The Interactive Media Foundation is committed to protecting the environment and promoting democracy. It is a nonprofit organization that works at the intersection of art, science, civic engagement and media technology. It gives people a deeper understanding of some of the most important challenges of our time and encourages them to get involved themselves. It aims to move from knowledge to understanding to action.
Through immersive storytelling techniques and innovative formats, it reaches target audiences not only intellectually, but also emotionally.
The basis of its work is a collaborative creative process and a large partner network. The Interactive Media Foundation brings together specialists from different areas of society. It combines expertise, insights and techniques from different disciplines to open up new, often surprising perspectives on topics that fascinate and touch in equal measure.
Its productions are shown worldwide at media art and film festivals and in numerous cultural institutions. They have already screened at the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin, the Centre Phi in Montreal, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the Venice Biennale and the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, among others.
The recognition of experts and juries from very different fields is reflected in prestigious awards such as the Federal Prize for Cultural Education, the Grand Prix of the Art Directors Club or the placement on the Forbes List for outstanding creativity.
The Interactive Media Foundation is headquartered in Berlin. It was founded in 2013.
