Working Student Social Media & Communications (m/f/d)

Who we are

Interactive Media Foundation gGmbH is a non-profit creative studio for groundbreaking media projects. We are an award-winning and internationally successful organization that combines storytelling, media technology, art, science, and civic engagement into a unique mix.

We are proud of our diverse team, which is dedicated to impact-driven projects on meaningful topics with creativity and openness. Teamwork and active participation matter to us. Our everyday office culture is built on mutual respect. We value a flat hierarchy in which everyone has the opportunity to contribute.

Your mission

You will support our social media team in making the Interactive Media Foundation gGmbH's projects and topics visible, understandable, and impactful. The focus is on Instagram and LinkedIn. We also use YouTube & Vimeo to showcase longer video formats and projects. Going forward, we'd also like to share in-depth content via Substack. For us, social media isn't about reach for its own sake, but part of our impact strategy: impact over reach, quality over frequency, contribution over attribution. We tell the story of impact not as a standalone success, but as a contribution to larger developments.

Your responsibilities include

Editorial planning: You help plan our social media content, gather topics, stay in close contact with project leads, develop post ideas, and support the maintenance of the editorial calendar.

Research: You prepare project topics, background information, target audiences, and suitable communication occasions in a way that turns them into clear, relevant content for our channels.

Production: You support the creation of captions in German and English, Reels, Stories, carousel posts, and LinkedIn posts. This also includes image selection, simple layout adjustments, template maintenance, and filming/photographing with a phone or available equipment — for example at exhibitions, workshops, events, and productions.

Publishing: You support the preparation and execution of posts, co-posts, tagging, partner communication, and coordination.

Monitoring and evaluation: You help evaluate content and draw out learnings: What works? What do our projects communicate well? Which content really resonates?

What we're looking for

You'll be a good fit if you:

are a student, for example in communications, media, cultural studies, design, film, journalism, social media, digital media, or a comparable field

have a good feel for the German language

ideally also write confidently in English

bring an instinct for Instagram and LinkedIn

don't just copy trends, but understand content

think visually and enjoy design work

work carefully, in a structured way, and independently

show interest in our topics (art, science, technology, society, climate, storytelling, impact)

    aren't intimidated by complex subjects

You don't need to have everything mastered already. What matters to us is that you bring a good feel for language, images, and digital communication, work carefully, and want to get involved. If you're curious, think along with us, and enjoy digging into complex topics, you'll have plenty of room to try things out, learn, and grow with the role.

What awaits you

A position as a working student with 10–20 hrs/week, tailored to your studies

Topics and projects that create meaning

Direct collaboration with our Social Media Manager and our agency, and with communications leadership on larger topics

You'll join during an exciting growth phase in which we're developing new formats, workflows, and routines and further professionalizing our social media work

Access to interdisciplinary networks of creatives and experts that broaden your horizons

The chance to actively help shape a new social media concept, rather than just executing existing formats

A lovely office with an open, friendly atmosphere in the heart of Kreuzberg, surrounded by cafés and green spaces, just a few steps from the waterfront

Light-filled spaces with three balconies and terraces, occasional office dogs, shared lunches, and flexible workspaces

Terms

Hours: 10–20 hrs/week (max. 20 hrs/week during lecture periods, per working student regulations)

    Start: immediately or by arrangement

Contract term: initially fixed-term for the build-up phase of the social media concept, expected until end of February 2027, with option to extend

Location: Berlin-Kreuzberg, hybrid with remote option

    Compensation: €15/hr gross

Languages: Confident written and spoken German, English a plus

Application

Interested? Send us a short cover letter, your CV, and — if you'd like — one or two writing or social media content samples that show how you write and think, to career@interactivemedia-foundation.com. We look forward to getting to know you!
