At Opera Maker, creativity, play, and grand opera take center stage. The project gives children a playful introduction to classical music and the world of opera. At its heart lies the joy of creation: inventing stories, developing characters, and experiencing music in new ways. In this way, a centuries-old genre comes alive for younger generations not as a dry school subject, but as an interactive adventure full of imagination.

When music education and game design come together

Opera Maker was born out of the collaboration between music educators, game designers, and interactive storytellers. At its core was the idea of making classical music accessible through creation, humor, and play rather than teaching it in conventional ways. The app builds on principles of music education, combines them with interactive game mechanics, and opens up the world of opera to children as a creative experience rather than an abstract classroom subject.

The developers have done a fantastic job of creating an app that is fun, easy to use, and safe too.

With Opera Maker, classical music becomes tangible and alive for children not as a school subject, but as an adventure full of imagination.

Opera Maker was realised with the support of Studio Fizbin. The project was funded by the initiative Ein Netz für Kinder as well as the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The app received wide recognition and positive reviews from expert platforms such as Best Apps for Kids and Educational App Store.

The app provides an accessible entry point to cultural participation and opens up new ways for young generations to explore and shape opera creatively.
